BSD Unix

FreeBSD Unix and OpenBSD Unix are highly stable, exhaustively tested and very secure. FreeBSD's networking performance, scalability, and reliability are legendary. In fact Yahoo uses it, as did Microsoft's Hotmail for many years.
OpenBSD is designed from the ground up to be the most secure open-source operating system and hasn't had a remote root exploit in 8 years!
Licensing costs are zero. Hardware requirements are lower than Windows-based servers, and they support most industry-standard devices and peripherals. The BSD are an excellent choice for:
  • Any networking situation requiring high-performance and stability
  • General-purpose server in mixed-OS environments.
  • Perimeter security firewall, gateway router, proxy server, etc.
