Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows Server is the standard for many small and medium sized businesses. Graphical installation and adminsitration tools allow for easy system set-up and adminsitration. Hardware requirements are more demanding than Linux or BSD based machines.

Acquisition and licensing can become expensive, although the Small Business Server (SBS) editions of Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 offer good value and include the following primary server applications:
  • Microsoft Windows Server (All)
  • Exchange e-mail and groupware server (All)
  • SQL Server for relational databases (2000, 2003 Premuim)
  • Internet Security & Acceleration (ISA) firewall and proxy server (2000, 2003 Premuim)
