OS X runs exlusively on Apple hardware and total acquisition costs, including OS X specific application software, can be cost-competeitive with more traditional choices. Maintenance and support costs are often substantially lower.

Max OS X's reputation for security and stability are well deserved. If needed, you can install and boot directly into Microsoft Windows XP using Apple's Boot Camp.
